News Page
Facebook and MySpace - February 2008.
This month sees the appearance of WFPD on a new Facebook page which now runs alongside the previously launched MySpace presence, where members are able to keep up to date with the project as well as post comments and pictures.
Website Visitors - 1st December 2007.
Since the WFPD site went live in July this year it has attracted more than 2200 individual visitors in the space of just over four months, with many people having made return visits. Through ‘internet word of mouth’ it has been well documented and publicised in numerous countries across the globe and is hopefully a good indicator of awareness being created for the event. However, this isn’t a reason to stand still as I am always on the lookout for new ideas to celebrate the enjoyment of film photography.
About World Film Photography Day - August 2007.
The idea of a film photography day had been in the back of my mind for quite some before I finally mentioned it one day on the APUG website back in May this year. Uncertain of whether I could put together such a site to promote the day and if it would even be popular with photographers I was greatly encouraged by the replies I received.
So here it is, currently in a basic form with my promise of improvements and additional features in the weeks and months ahead. The choice of when goes to Roger Hicks with thanks. For many of us this is the first day of spring, a great time to promote and enjoy all that film photography has to offer. You may say that every day should then be a film day and yes I would agree, but if we can provide an extra reason to purchase a few more rolls of film, go out and take some pictures, and keep the film market alive, then that can only be a good thing. And who knows, we might even tempt a few to dust off their film gear and use it, or introduce the younger generation to the magic and wonders of our favourite films!
At this early stage I still don’t know if this will all work, but the way I see it is, if only a few dozen individuals gain pleasure from taking part next March 20th it will all be worth it. And if so, we’ll do it again the following year!
